"Polished plasters to meet your design objectives"

Polished Plaster Today

Technically and aesthetically polished plaster today is a close relative of the stucco lustro and marmorino finishes of the past. The main differences are the greater choice of effects and the substitution where appropriate of modern working methods and materials to ensure consistency and equality.

The new polished plasters are more flexible than their older counterparts due to the addition of modern resins and most bespoke colours and finishes can be achieved.

There is a need for highly trained labour and indeed many of the "habits" of the conventional plasterer need to be "put to the side" in order to apply polished plasters. Therefore retraining is undergone before any can be applied.

Work schedules have to be strictly adhered to due to the need for continuance of work areas to achieve uniformity and seamless production. The polished plasters are applied later than conventional plasters and at the same time as the other finishing trades as it needs to be protected just like painting until it has time to fully harden.

The finished product is highly decorative, high surface strength with low maintenance and a 10 year guarantee comes with the best products on the market.

In making any decisions or comparisons between polished plaster the specifier needs to undertsand the critical differences between suppliers and what sets one apart from another.

Formulation, manufacture, sale and application of the hard polished plasters are all very important factors. The specifier must be confident when choosing polished plasters that they can rely absolutely on the replication of product formulation and colour, whenever this might become necessary in the future. Colours must be guaranteed in perpetuity, a vital requirement in long term maintenance.

Materials should be certified to independent material integrity / freeze / thaw testing and fully compliant with a fire-rating requirement of Class 0 with a compressive strength of 28N/mm2.
